OXIDIZED BITUMEN 105/15

Description

Description:

Oxidized Bitumen 105/15 is also known as Blown Bitumen 105/15 (or R105/15), is a hard grade of this bitumen category. R105/15 has a lower needle penetration rather than R105/35. Penetration Bitumen 60/70 is a raw material and the base of more bituminous products like Blown Bitumen 105/15.

Oxidized Bitumen 105/15 is produced by aeration of pure bitumen 60/70. The pure bitumen is exposed to very hot air under especial temperature and pressure conditions that are completely controlled to obtain the product with the required characteristics. Blown Bitumen 105/15 is classified by two numbers which are softening point and needle penetration. ASTM measures these mentioned parameters that it is an international test method.

Technical Properties:

Blown Bitumen 105/15 has softening point and needle penetration equal to 105 And 15 desi-millimeter, respectively. Based on standard and international test methods, softening point is measured by ASTM D36, and ASTM D5 measures penetration degree. For more information, please refer to Test Data Sheet (TDS) section.

Applications:

Oxidized Bitumen 105/15 is used in numerous industrial applications like civil works, Petroleum operations, coating and sealing, oil and gas equipment pipe coating, chemical, combination with fuel and asphalt, paperboard, textile, construction, roofing, flooring, adhesive, dust proofing, lacquers, pavement, insulating, varnishes, rubber and plastic products, hydraulic applications, pavements by Portland types of cement, etc.

Also, it is used in manufacturing especial points, bituminous paints and products, electrical joint coating, road constructions, waterproofing, crack sealing as silence material. Moreover, Blown Bitumen 105/15 is used as a sound reducer in the automobile industry and isolation bitumen membrane sheet.

Handling/Storage:

Heating Bitumen in most final uses is a critical stage. Generally, the most important thing in this procedure is heat control. Temperature and heat control can affect various aspects of the product, including its quality. The safe and recommended maximum temperature is 230℃.

All Oxidized Bitumen is not hazardous at below 100℃ during shipping operations. Heating and heat transfer should be control. Without good heat transfer may cause overheating and release low flash vapors, which these unwanted side products have a higher fire risk.

Moreover, melted bitumen should not be left in the boiler to get cold. Because it can cause overheating and needs more positional energy. Furthermore, placement and installing any temperature and pressure monitoring and control devices are very important. Because if their placement is not true, thermometers can’t display the real temperature that it can leads to poor monitoring and thermal conductivity.

Health/ Safety:

Everyone who works in Oxidized Bitumen plants should be wear gloves, masks (especial protective masks), and safety glasses. For more information, please refer to MSDS.
